1. Original research. Reviews were excluded in this review because their focus was not on PDAs in health care. Reports of systematic reviews and other non-systematic reports were excluded, as were editorials. Reports from workshops were included.
Studies and reports were included if they were either (a) original research articles, (b) reviews with a clear focus on PDAs in health care, (c) reports of systematic reviews or (d) other relevant non-systematic reports. In addition, the articles were limited to those in English language and those published after 1985. We decided on that cutoff because the first published article on the use of PDAs in health care is from that time. We did not have a specific cutoff of publication date for the research methodology review because the review did not focus on a certain methodology, but we included that information if it was available. Studies were also excluded if they were non-peer-reviewed articles, editorials, or reports of workshops. Studies were excluded if they were reviews of the literature with a focus on other topics. We also excluded studies that were published in a language other than English.
The PDA is also suitable for online learning, e-learning, and distance education. Although an e-learning system is technically not always a PDA, we can use a PDA for supporting the learning process for a web-based course. In addition, a PDA is a useful tool for distance learning, providing an excellent learning environment for students, especially in terms of cost- and time efficiency [42].
The MATLAB environment is based on the MathWorks MATLABĀ® Compiler, or MMC, which is a proprietary language developed by MathWorks to facilitate the building of applications. MMC understands the MATLAB language and various task APIs and provides efficient intermediate language compilers for compiling functions and scripts.
The MATLABĀ® Engine is the core of the MATLAB product. It compiles, executes, and interprets MATLAB scripts and programs, as well as runs the M-files and M-links created by the MMC.
